Yankees top Tigers 5-4, 39-15 at 1/3 point, better than 2001 Mariners – MLB

NEW YORK – Josh Donaldson scored a sacrificial fly in the 10th and the New York Yankees came behind twice to beat the Detroit Tigers 5-4 to advance to a third of the season 39-15, the best in the big league. . championships in 21 years.

Jordan Montgomery, the Yankees’ starting line-up, allowed two runs and five hits in 6 1/3 innings. New York finished a series of five consecutive games allowing one or fewer consecutive, more than six in a row from September 24-30, 1978.

Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera had his 245th game with three or more hits and reached four. His draw single by Miguel Castro in eighth in two series was his 3,036th success. Pinch-runner Kody Clemens – Roger’s son – scored in Javier Baez’s single under Rizzo’s glove initially for a 4-3 lead.

Torres had scored for a 3-2 New York advantage in the seventh when Alex Lange walked DJ LeMahieu with the bases loaded.

Baez scored a double RBI and scored in a single from Daz Cameron as the Tigers led 2-0 in the fourth.

Detroit’s key player, Ronnie Garcia, allowed Gallo’s Homer to make four appearances against the team that left him unprotected in the draft of the 2019 winter game.


Aaron Hicks was 0 for 2 with runners in the standings, dropping to 4 for 35 RISP this year. All Gallo, hitting 0.176, was offended when he made a third hit with the bases loaded in the seventh.

LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (left side sprain) did a board session and could start a detox period with the Triple-A Toledo later this week. . OF Austin Meadows (vertigo) entered a detox game for Toledo and could return on Tuesday. Meadows has been in IL since May 16. RHP Tyler Alexander (left elbow sprains) made two innings in the Triple-A Toledo. OF Robbie Grossman (Stretched Neck) could embark on a detox mission.

Yankees: RHP Jonathan Loaisiga (right shoulder inflammation) is about to fly off the ground for the first time on Monday. LHP Zack Britton (elbow) threw his first bullpen session in Tampa, Florida, after Tommy John surgery last Sept. 9.


Tigers: LHP Tarik Skubal (4-2, 2.15 ERA) opens a three-game winning streak against Pittsburgh LHP Jose Quintana (1-2, 2.32) in Detroit.

Yankees: RHP Jameson Taillon (6-1, 2.30), who withdrew his first 21 hits against the Angels, opens a series of three games in Minnesota.
