A Skyrim Fan Changes The Game To Turn It Into Red Dead Redemption 2

To date, the gaming world has seen more than its fair share of Skyrim. With The Elder Scrolls 6 still nowhere in sight, fans find themselves shrugging their shoulders, wondering when the next entry will finally make an appearance. That doesn’t mean people have left Bethesda’s 2011 epic just yet. There are still plenty of ways to inject new life into the game, which usually comes in the form of mods. It’s even possible to modify it to the point where it’s almost like a completely different game.

That’s what Reddit user jackfjdah1 did, recently uploading a short video of their Skyrim playthrough which shows a rather strange thing, something that doesn’t belong in the world of Tamriel. Basically the game has been changed to include a cowboy type character who is holding a gun, not too dissimilar to the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2. The gun also works, which can be seen when the player moves over certain Skyrim bandits and begins gunning them down as the battle music plays, which sounds like Woody Jackson’s “American Venom” that was featured in Rockstar’s Wild West sequel.

The Elder Scrolls 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are among the highest-grossing video games of the past decade, selling tens of millions each. Given that, it’s no surprise that modders are interested in mixing the two together. Both have deep knowledge and huge open worlds for the player to explore, and it will be interesting to see if anyone has done the opposite and added the Dragonborn into RDR2interpretation of the United States at the turn of the last century.

Skyrim players seem to love turning the game into something else, and while they’re not trying to turn it into a different franchise, there are mods that change the way the epic vanilla RPG plays in other ways. For example, there is an add-on that rebuilds the city of Helgen, which is destroyed at the start of the game, as well as another that does Skyrim more realistic by adding the need for players to eat, drink and sleep.

Skyrim the mods can get pretty ridiculous, but they keep many fans entertained while they wait for the next installment in the series. It’s been over a decade since this entry was posted, so it seems like the community is spending as much game time as possible, and if that means mixing it up with another game, so be it.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
